Travel Comparison
The Merlin One program, a no-hassle, cost-effective solution
to the frustration of commercial
airline travel, turns this tedious experience into a comfortable, relaxing
flying experience.
A typical round trip, first-class seat from San Antonio
to Aspen, Colorado, can cost up to $1,800 on
a commercial carrier with at least one stop and no guarantee of a seamless
flight. The same service
in an entry-level fractional ownership program costs in excess of $15,000.
Yet through Merlin One’s
fractional leasing program, a stress-free, luxurious round trip flight to
Aspen will cost $4,200 with
ample room for six passengers, a large private lavatory and significant luggage
space. If more than
three passengers are on board it is less expensive than commercial airfare
and a fraction of the cost
of operating your own plane. Moreover, the non-stop flight time is just under
three hours from San
Antonio. Flight arrangements can be made with one call to a person who knows
your name, on-board
preferences and has your primary travel objective in mind – getting
you to your destination, safely and
on-time, in a pleasant, comfortable atmosphere.
Dedicated Flight Operations and Service
The program has four planes, giving members guaranteed
24-hour access to a plane.

No Surprises Or Hidden Costs
Fixed monthly costs include the aircraft, maintenance, insurance,
hangar, reserves and management.
Program Comparison
Since the Merlin series aircraft were manufactured in San
Antonio, Lessees
reap the resulting cost-benefit of local maintenance and expertise. Airlift
and its associates have a breadth of knowledge about all things Merlin
related; the group designed, manufactured, operated, sold, financed,
supported and continues to own a number of the aircraft. The Merlin
One concept simply wouldn’t be cost effective in another state, as
all the
resources and expertise are located here.
Due to a limited production run of 143 aircraft and the
complexity of its design, the Merlin III series has a small, but dedicated
audience. This results in a fair market value far less than its closest competitor,
the Beech King Air B-200. The Merlin IIIB is bigger, faster, has more range,
more payload and burns 20% less fuel than the King Air B-200!
Aircraft
Features
The Merlin IIIA and IIIB are twin,
turbine-powered aircraft with a
cruise speed of 275 Knots, and
have a maximum range of over
2,000 statute miles. The cabin will
comfortably accommodate six adults,
features a large private lavatory, and
ample baggage capacity for as much
luggage and golf bags or ski bags
as passengers. The aircraft were
designed by legendary aeronautical
engineer, Ed Swearingen, and
manufactured in San Antonio.
The Merlin series aircraft have proven
themselves over the years in corporate,
cargo and military applications world
wide.
Safety
The structural integrity of the Merlin
aircraft is unsurpassed in its class
with a safety record that bears this
out. The Merlin III series has dualwing
spars that stretch from wing tip
to wing tip. As you get to know the
Merlin aircraft, “dual fail-safe design” becomes very reassuring.
Pilot
Experience
Presently, Merlin One has six
approved pilots. All are independent
contractors engaged by the operator.
Each is a high-time ATP, commerciallyrated
professional with a minimum of
1,500 flight hours as pilot in command
in Merlin/Metro aircraft.
